There’s nothing like experiencing live music, whether it’s a new band at a local establishment or your favorite group in a sold-out stadium. The magic of live music is undeniable.
The saying goes, “You don’t know what you have till it's gone, “and that was true when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Concerts were canceled, and music venues were shut down. Talk about widespread disappointment. I was devasted when Green Day canceled their tour in 2020, along with many other exciting shows. So many good concerts were canceled during that time, like the Hella Mega tour featuring Green Day Wheezer and Fall Out Boy and so many more.
Seeing a band live and experiencing new music in person is one of the best feelings in the world. Live music has many benefits, including stress relief, social connection, and community-building. When we gather for a concert, we share emotions and a common purpose, creating a unique bond among other fans. The best artists spend hours arranging a set list and telling stories through their music.
Music knows no boundaries. At concerts, everyone is united by the common purpose of enjoying the sound. There’s no discrimination here, just acceptance and the beauty of imperfections. This shared experience connects us all as human beings. During a live performance, an artist can change the performance based on the crowd’s reaction, creating an interactive experience that makes each show unique and special. The sound of live instruments adds another layer to this connection between the artist and the audience.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are masters at this. I saw them a few weeks ago in Ottawa and he seemed to hold the audience in the palm of his hand while taking us all on an emotional journey. You feel like he’s singing directly to you, despite the 20 thousand fans in attendance.
So next time someone invites you to attend a live show at your local pub or venue, don’t hesitate – say yes! Attending live music events is not only fun but also good for your health. The energy of the crowd and the emotions shared during a show can create unforgettable memories. Embrace the magic of live music! It’s an experience you won’t want to miss!
By the way – the Green Day rescheduled concert in August 2024 was incredible and well worth the wait. “I hope you had the time of your life.” Yes, I did.
See you at the next show.
